5TH GRADE SNACK SHACK
April 25, 2024
5th-grade parents! We need donations for the Carnival's Snack Shack! You can bring donations to the front desk labeled "5th Grade Snack Shack."
If you're interested in volunteering for 5th-grade activities, please contact Ms. Phelan at torri.phelan@vansd.org
SPRING CARNIVAL
May 17, 2024, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Spring Carnival is a fun, annual event! This Family Fun Night includes lots of games, prizes, and even bounce houses! The Raffle and Silent Auction raise money for PTA-supported learning and enrichment programs. And the Snack Shack raises money for the 5th grade's Class of 2024.
We'll provide general Carnival updates here. This is a really fun event! Many other school PTAs in the area no longer hold an annual Carnival, so be sure to invite other families!
Opportunities to donate:
March/April: Each classroom will be collecting items for a themed basket for the Carnival's Silent Auction. Your child's teacher will send out more information.
Do you have Luau- or Hawaiian-themed decorations you'd like to donate for the Carnival? Let us know!
Donate concessions! (We have a select list of items: hot dogs, buns, paper plates, etc.) Sign up to donate concessions here.
Baked goods! Can you donate a cake, cupcakes, muffins, brownies, cookies, or pie? We'll be looking for sweet treat donations for the Cake Walk! And if your kind of "baking" involves purchasing treats, you can surely donate those! More information to come!
The SNACK SHACK will be open during the Spring Carnival!
5th-grade parents: We need donations for the Carnival's Snack Shack! You can bring donations to the front desk labeled "5th Grade Snack Shack."
Opportunities to help:
We're working to recruit responsible local high schoolers (and responsible middle schoolers) to serve as volunteers during the Carnival. If you know interested teens who fit into this category, they can sign up to help here.
We'd like Sacajawea parents to be free to enjoy the event with their children, but there will be a few key volunteer roles better suited for adults. Carnival Volunteers can sign up here.

DON'T FORGET TO COMPLETE THE VPS VOLUNTEER APPLICATION
If you'll be helping in the school or interacting with students, you'll need to complete a basic application and background check through the school district.
If I join the PTA, do I have to volunteer?
No! Being a PTA member does not require you to volunteer!
I haven't officially joined the PTA. Can I still help out?
Yes! You don't have to be a PTA member to volunteer (unless you hold a position, are planning an event, or are handling funds).
My schedule interferes with in-person volunteering. Can I still help?
Yes! For example: during the year, there will be opportunities to donate food or snacks for Staff Appreciation Days, Snack Shack sales, or the Carnival! In preparation for the Carnival, you can contribute to your classroom's themed basket for the Silent Auction. You can help make flyers, manage the PTA's social media, help maintain the PTA website, or work on securing donations from local businesses! You can help by serving as a Room Parent (sign-up typically at the start of the school year), in conjunction with your teacher and the PTA, communicating with the other parents in your student's classroom.
I want to help! How can I get involved?
