DECEMBER QUIZ DRAWING
Congrats to Debbie D, who won the mystery prize (a Christmas Yankee candle, hand soaps, and hand towel)!
THE QUESTION WAS: Which U.S. President established Christmas as a national holiday?
THE ANSWER WAS:
On June 28, 1870, Ulysses S. Grant signed a bill into law that designated Christmas as an unpaid holiday for federal employees in Washington D.C. This holiday was later extended to federal employees outside of Washington D.C., and became a paid holiday in 1938.
President Grant is credited for designating Christmas as a national holiday to unify the citizens in the North and South in the period following the Civil War.
K-2 PROGRAM: Our Cute Little Singers and Dancers!
Thanks to all who attended the Blizzard’s on the Way program last month. Weren’t the students adorable? And thank you to all of the staff who worked to make the show so special! A special thanks to Vancouver Church, who supplied refreshments!

A school-wide Fun Run event is in the works for our young Skyhawks! This event will replace the American Heart Association’s Kids’ Heart Challenge, which we’ve done in the past.
Every student will be part of the fun!
